Military service demands extraordinary courage and sacrifice. The transition back to civilian life, processing combat experiences, and managing the invisible wounds of service can be equally challenging. At Troopers Assisting Inc, we understand these unique struggles because we've lived them.
Our confidential mental health support services provide a safe, judgment-free environment where veterans and their families can address the psychological challenges that often accompany military service. Whether you're dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression, or the complex emotions of readjusting to civilian life, our specialized team is here to help.
We recognize that seeking help takes tremendous strength. That's why we've designed our services to be accessible, confidential, and tailored specifically to the veteran community. Every counselor on our team has extensive experience working with military personnel and understands the unique cultural context of military service.
Our integrated approach addresses the full spectrum of mental health challenges facing veterans and their families.

Connect with fellow veterans who understand your experiences. Our facilitated peer support groups provide a safe space to share challenges, celebrate victories, and build lasting connections with others who've walked similar paths.
Immediate support when you need it most. Our trained crisis counselors are available around the clock to provide confidential assistance during mental health emergencies. You're never alone in your darkest moments.
Military service affects the entire family. We offer specialized counseling for spouses, children, and other family members to help navigate the unique challenges of supporting a veteran and maintaining healthy family relationships.
PTSD affects many veterans who have experienced combat, witnessed traumatic events, or endured life-threatening situations during their service. Symptoms can include intrusive memories, nightmares, hypervigilance, emotional numbness, and avoidance of triggers that remind you of traumatic experiences.
Our PTSD treatment program utilizes proven therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). These evidence-based treatments have helped thousands of veterans process traumatic memories and reclaim their lives.
We understand that PTSD doesn't follow a schedule. That's why our counselors work with you to develop coping strategies you can use anytime, anywhere. We also coordinate with your primary care physician when medication management might be beneficial as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.
The transition from military to civilian life can trigger or exacerbate anxiety and depression. Loss of military structure, difficulty finding purpose, unemployment challenges, and feelings of isolation are common experiences that can lead to persistent sadness, worry, and loss of interest in activities you once enjoyed.
Our counselors specialize in treating anxiety disorders and depression through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based interventions, and solution-focused approaches. We help you identify negative thought patterns, develop healthier coping mechanisms, and rebuild a sense of purpose and connection in civilian life.
"After three deployments, I thought I could handle anything. But the nightmares and anxiety were destroying my family. The counselors at Troopers Assisting Inc understood what I was going through without me having to explain. They gave me tools that actually work, and for the first time in years, I feel like myself again."

Transitioning from military to civilian life involves more than just changing careers. It requires adapting to a completely different culture, rebuilding your identity outside of military service, and navigating relationships with people who may not understand your experiences.
Common adjustment challenges include difficulty relating to civilians, missing the camaraderie and structure of military life, struggling with authority in civilian workplaces, and feeling disconnected from your sense of purpose. These feelings are normal, and you don't have to navigate them alone.
Our adjustment counseling helps you process the complex emotions of transition, develop new social connections, and discover meaningful ways to apply your military skills and values in civilian contexts. We also offer career counseling and help you access educational opportunities that can ease the transition process.
Mental health crises don't wait for business hours. When you're in immediate distress, experiencing suicidal thoughts, or facing an overwhelming emotional emergency, our crisis intervention hotline provides immediate, confidential support.
Our crisis counselors are specially trained in suicide prevention, de-escalation techniques, and emergency mental health intervention. They understand the unique pressures facing veterans and can connect you with immediate resources, including emergency services if needed.

While professional counseling is invaluable, there's something uniquely powerful about connecting with fellow veterans who truly understand your experiences. Our peer support groups provide a space where you can be yourself without explanation or judgment.
We offer multiple peer support groups tailored to different needs and experiences:
For veterans who served in combat zones. Share experiences, process difficult memories, and learn from others who've faced similar challenges. Meets weekly on Tuesday evenings.
Focused on the challenges of adjusting to civilian life. Discuss career transitions, relationship changes, and finding new purpose. Meets bi-weekly on Thursday afternoons.
A safe space for women veterans to discuss unique challenges including military sexual trauma, gender-specific health issues, and balancing military identity with civilian expectations. Meets monthly on Saturday mornings.
For spouses, partners, and family members of veterans. Learn coping strategies, share experiences, and get support from others who understand the challenges of loving someone who served. Meets weekly on Wednesday evenings.
Support for veterans working through substance use challenges. Combines peer support with evidence-based recovery strategies. Meets three times weekly on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings.
All groups are facilitated by trained peer support specialists who are veterans themselves. Groups are free to attend, and you can join at any time. No registration required—just show up when you're ready.
Military service doesn't just affect the service member—it impacts the entire family. Spouses manage households during deployments, children cope with frequent moves and parental absence, and everyone adjusts to the changes that come with military life and eventual transition to civilian status.
Our family support services recognize that healing happens best when the entire family system is supported. We offer:
"My husband came back from Afghanistan a different person. The counselors at Troopers Assisting Inc didn't just help him—they helped our whole family understand what he was going through and how we could support each other. They saved our marriage and gave us tools to be a stronger family."
— Military Spouse, Family Program Participant
Family members can access our services independently or in conjunction with the veteran's treatment. We understand that sometimes family members need their own space to process their experiences and emotions without worrying about how it affects their veteran loved one.
What makes our mental health support services uniquely effective for veterans and their families.
All services are strictly confidential. We never share information with the VA, military, employers, or anyone else without your explicit written consent. Your privacy is protected by law.
Every counselor has extensive training in military culture and trauma-informed care. Many are veterans themselves who understand your experiences from personal knowledge.
Services are provided at no cost to veterans and their families. We accept insurance and work with the VA, but never turn anyone away due to inability to pay.
Evening and weekend appointments available. We also offer telehealth options for those who prefer remote sessions or have transportation challenges.
We use proven therapeutic approaches backed by research, including CPT, PE, EMDR, CBT, and other treatments shown to be effective for veteran populations.
Beyond counseling, we connect you with other resources you need—housing assistance, employment support, benefits navigation, and more through our integrated service network.
Taking the first step toward mental health support requires courage, but the process itself is straightforward and designed to be as comfortable as possible.
You can reach us in whatever way feels most comfortable:
Your first appointment will be an intake session where you'll meet with a counselor to discuss your concerns, goals, and what brought you to seek support. This is a conversation, not an interrogation. You share only what you're comfortable sharing, and there's no pressure to discuss traumatic experiences before you're ready.
Together, you and your counselor will develop a treatment plan tailored to your specific needs. This might include individual counseling, group participation, family therapy, or a combination of services. The plan is flexible and can be adjusted as your needs change.
Most veterans attend weekly sessions initially, though frequency can be adjusted based on your schedule and treatment needs. Sessions typically last 50-60 minutes. We also offer intensive outpatient programs for those who need more comprehensive support.
For your first appointment, please bring:
Don't worry if you don't have all these items. We'll never turn you away because you're missing paperwork. The most important thing is that you showed up.
Seeking help is not a sign of weakness—it's an act of courage and self-care. Our team is ready to support you on your journey toward healing and wellness.
